He was found at the 16-year-old
girl's home on April 8 by her mother who contacted police, but Conner
escaped from the home before Police arrived.
Police launched an investigation soon after that led to his arrest this week.
WBRZ
reports that Conner did not mention his arrest to the school and had
not shown up for work since being discovered in the girl's closet. The
teenager was not a student at Westgate High School, where Conner
works, she was a student at another local school.
The school later found out
about his arrest from a news bulletin sent out by the Ascension Parish
Sheriff’s Office on Thursday afternoon.
Conner admitted to police under questioning that he had been sending inappropriate texts to the young girl for the past year.
He was released from jail on Thursday on $50,000 bail, and more charges could be filed against the disgraced band teacher.
It was also revealed that Conner had
been charged with aggravated battery in 2014 at his last job for an
incident that occurred with a middle school student.
That boy said Conner threw a chair
at him in the classroom, but charges were never filed after the teacher
completed a pre-trial intervention process but he resigned from the
school after the incident.
