Preliminary investigation into the alleged brutality on Kabiru Ahmed by policemen in Jimeta, Adamawa State.

Following the alleged brutality on Kabiru Ahmed, who is currently unconscious at FMC, Yola, by policemen of Doubeli Police station in Jimeta, Adamawa State, Complaint Response Unit- Nigeria Police Force launched a preliminary investigation. See the post here
Below are details of the investigation released yesterday, June 1.
1. That on 16/05/2016 at about 10:45am Police Detective raided a black spot along Zaranda street Jimeta where five (5) suspects were arrested and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and tramadol drug substances recovered from the arrested persons.

2. That one Kabiru Ahmadu and one other person now at large both male of Zaranda street, Doubeli both suspected to be part of the drug addicts that frequent the spot allegedly came from nowhere to obstruct the Detectives and in the process three (3) of the earlier apprehended suspects were able to escape from police custody at the scene.

3. That the said Kabiru Ahmadu in a bid to also escape the scene was said to have entered a deep culvert and started running and he was given a pursuit by the Detectives during which he allegedly fell down and sustained some bruises to his left leg before he was eventually arrested.

4. That Kabiru Ahmadu and two other suspects earlier arrested at the black spot where taken to the station for first aid and interrogation.

5. That at about 6:45pm of same date Kabiru Ahmadu was discovered to be behaving in an unusual manner hence he was rushed to the Specialist Hospital Yola for medical attention but due to the strike action he was then moved to Federal Medical Centre Yola here he is currently on admission and receiving medical attention. Doctors are still carrying out series of test and investigation to ascertain his circumstance.

6. The other two suspects arrested at the black spot namely Moses Joseph 'm' and Danladi Buba 'm' with substances suspected to be hard drugs have been charged to court accordingly and are remanded in prison custody pending next court adjournment.

However, the Commissioner of Police Adamawa State has been directed to conduct a detailed investigation into the circumstances leading to the admission of Kabiru Ahmadu in the hospital, outcome would be made public.
